St-Gervais has been a popular spa resort attracting both local and foreign tourists since 1806 and today is popular with families wanting a cheaper alternative to Megeve or Chamonix. Spa treatments are available in the hot springs. Nearby Le Bettex at 1,400m is a quieter village with a few comfortable hotels and some cross-country skiing.
The main ski area of St-Gervais has 79 lifts on the slopes of Mont d'Arbois, and is linked with that of Megeve. It has a terrain park with a half-pipe and is accessed by a fast, 20-person gondola from the edge of the resort to Le Bettex. The second stage goes up to St-Gervais 1850. This is a popular and often-crowded entrance to Megeve's pistes. Skiing on the Mont Blanc side of St-Gervais is served by the Tramway, a mountain railway that climbs slowly to the Col de Voza at 1,653m, where it links to the skiing above Les Houches. Hotel-Restaurant Igloo and the Terminus in Le Fayet area have good reputations for their cuisine.
St-Gervais has three nursery-slope lifts and two kindergartens. The ESF at St-Gervais and St Nicholas, and the ESI at Le Bettex, all offer standard lessons, as well as cross-country, slalom and telemark. The two local mountain-guiding companies are Compagnie des Guides de St-Gervais and Guides des Cimes, and both can organise heli-skiing.
The Evasion Mont-Blanc ski pass covers the large area of Saint Gervais, Saint Nicolas de Véroce, Megève and Combloux and also includes the slopes at les Contamines Montjoie and Les Houches in total 500kms of slopes (access by the Mont Blanc Tramway)
At Saint Gervais Mont Blanc, in winter and summer season, discover unforgettable sensations and wide open spaces over 180km of marked paths and trails.
Professionals open the doors to new disciplines in all security and for your pleasure. On the programme: ski, snowshoes, nordic ski, climbing, paragliding, canyoning, rafting, ice skating, horse riding and mountain biking...
" Les Ecuries du Mont Blanc ", the Horse Riding Centre, is open all the year, not only in summer.
St Gervais Apres Ski
St-Gervais has a moderate range of restaurants, with 4 Epices and L'Eterle both good value. Le Four and Le Robinson serve a variety of local specialities, while La Taniere and La Chalette are traditional. La Nuit des Temps is the only disco and the town has a casino.
