SNOW SNOW and more SNOW

For the second time in a week Scheffau is receiving RIDICULOUS amounts of snow. Already, this morning, we have had 18 inches in the valley and 2 feet on the mountain. Snow is expected to continue at a very heavy rate for another 18 hours.

Scheffau looks like a winter wonderland with drifts of snow over 2 metres high. Our own garden has snow ploughed onto it at over 4 metres high. The powder possibilities on the mountain will be fantastic once the avalanche risk reduces!

Tomorrow is forecast sunshine in the afternoon with temperatures at minus 20 Centigrade A truly amazing season so far!

New Snow and more to come

Scheffau once again looks like a Winter Wonderland with fresh snow glistening in the winter sun. The already excellent pistes have been topped up with 20cm of fresh powder and the off-piste routes are again open - woopee

Beautiful clear blue skies!

It's a beautiful day in Scheffau. Chilly but sunny, with a "Winter is coming" feel in the air. The Wilder Kaiser Mountains have a dusting of fresh snow. Lifts are still scheduled to open on Saturday 6th December.

More early snow!

SkiWelt is once again covered in snow. The snowline today is around 1000m and is expected to lower to 800m tonight!! That means snow all the way down to the valley!

No snow today!

The last remnants of snow are now melting in SkiWelt and the resort opens for the summer in 2 days. The Wilder Kaiser Mountains still have snow down to approx 1500m and high altitude walks would still prove challenging!!

It just keeps snowing!

Scheffau is now deep under snow with around 50cm in the valley and 1 metre at the top. Heavy snow is forecast tomorrow (15.11.07) so depths will be excellent for this weekend, when SkiWelt opens the lift system for the earliest weekend skiing in 30 years!! Lifts open for the season on Saturday 8th December.

Too much to handle??

After a glorious week of spring skiing last week, Winter has returned IN STYLE! 30cm of snow fell on Sunday night/Tuesday and another 25cm Monday night/Tuesday AND it's still snowing heavily with approximately 25cm of new accumulated snow at 750m and 50cm at 1600m. With temperatures well below freezing during the day the conditions are providing excellent powder skiing down to the valleys. The forecast indicates a further 3 days of heavy snow amounting to over a metre by Saturday! Paradise

MUCHO DUMPO

SNOW, SNOW AND MORE SNOW!
18 inches of fresh powder overnight (12 inches at the valley bottom) and it's still snowing - heavily! The whole of SkiWelt - Austria's largest ski resort, has become a vast winter wonderland, with off-piste posibilities now opening up across the resort. Temperatures remain cold at minus 10 C on top and minus 5 C in the valley. Even better - more snow is forecast!

COLD - VERY COLD!!

Absolutely beautiful!

Fresh snow, clear skies, bright sunshine. The runs to Ellmau, Scheffau and Soll are all open again. We have fresh snow to the valley bottom with more forecast for this weekend. WOOPPEE

Temperatures are currently -14 C at the top with night time temperatures even colder (-20?) so this new snow should keep well.

Winter Wonderland

At last, the whole place is covered in snow! After the warmest start to December for hundreds of years, the temperatures have dropped below freezing and snow is falling from the skies. More is still needed, but the lifts opening on December 15th looks more promising. Snow is currently down to the valley at 700m, although it is expected that the snow line will rise a little during the week.

Snow Reports will begin in December

Scheffau is currently having a late summer with lovely warm weather in the valley. The mountains are beautifully snow capped from the 40 cm of snow that fell 2 weeks ago. Views from Chalet Heidi today are of clear blue skies above the brilliant white of the snow in SkiWelt
