Nassfeld Ski Arena is located right on the Italian/Austrian borders, and has been aptly named as a little known gem of a resort, in the sunny province of Carinthia.

Due to its high altitude and comprehensive snow canon coverage, Nassfeld boasts of excellent snow coverage throughout the winter ski season. It is also the largest and most modern ski resort in Carinthia, and has been placed in the Top Ten of Austrias best ski resorts.

The Millenium Express gondola is the longest in Europe, and takes just 17 minutes to transport you to an altitude of just over 2000 meters. The views of both the Austrian and Italian Alps are simply stunning.

There are 110km of pistes, suitable for all levels of skiers and boarders, plus an amazing amount of off-piste for the more confident. The Carnia, is the longest run at 7.6km in length, and we have the longest floodlit piste in the Alps at 2.2km which is open every Wednesday night. Snowboarders are also well catered for, with two board parks with quarter pipes, kickers, table tops and a snow cross park, plus the natural snowboard area at Kronalp.

There is an excellent ski/board school for beginners and improvers for those wanting to improve their on-slope skills, with a really good team of English speaking instructors. Plus an extremely well organised and friendly children's club from the age of 2 years.

You can enjoy the famous Austrian hospitality and cuisine at the many mountain restaurants and bars, and you can even ski into Italy for a very reasonable, traditional Italian pizza!

There are a good selection of Après ski bars for those wanting to party into the early hours.

Other activities in the area, include cross-country skiing, ice skating on Lake Weissensee - Europe's largest natural ice rink, or hire some of the alternative snow equipment, such as snowbikes, rubber tubes, airboards etc.

There are several travel options. Nassfeld is just one hour from Klagenfurt Airport with Ryanair from Stanstead and two hours from Ryanair destinations Graz (Austria), Trieste (Italy). Ljubljana (Slovenia) serviced by Easyjet is just over an hour away. Another option is Venice, also Easyjet, which is a 2 and a half hour journey and Salzburg, again, a 2 and a half hour transfer.

Apres Ski

Trolpolach is a fairly quiet resort, however, après ski huts on the mountain are very lively. The Baren Hutte at the base of the gondola is a great place to celebrate the end of the ski day with a schnapps or a warming mug of Glümost (hot, spiced cider) and a dance in your ski boots to some of the cheesiest Euro pop you?ll have ever heard!!

The modern CUBE hotel as a lively night club and sports bar with guest Djs and the Falkensteiner Hotel has a stylish bar.

Eating out

At the many mountain restaurants you can enjoy a range of delicacies, not only Austrian, but due to the proximity of Nassfeld to the borders, Italian and Slovenian too. At the base of the slopes is the sleepy village of Tropolach which some excellent restaurants and pizzerias.

There is also the option to ski into Italy for a fantastic pizza at Apres Ski Bar Kabrio. All drinks and food sold on the mountain are excellent value unlike many other European resorts which tend to be very over priced!
