Winter has arrived

The snow line is currently hovering just above the village, the slopes can be seen looking very white and snowy now.

Fresh snow & blue skies

After heavy snow over the weekend, the Portes du Soleil is now basking under blue skies and sunshine.

Avoriaz has 230 cm at 2400 m which once again is some of the best snow in the whole of the French Alps!

The clouds are rolling in !

After a couple of weeks of blue skies and sunny weather, the clouds are building up this afternoon for a forecast 25-35cms starting this evening !

Should be enough to freshen up the pistes which have become a little firm in places.

No sun this week but the snow keeps coming!

The weather seems a bit confused in Chatel this week with temperatures all over the place. Fresh snow last week has left the pistes in good condition, but the sun has been conspicuous by it's absence. It's been snowing off and on high up this weekend but today it's very warm and pouring with rain down in the village. It is however snowing up on the pistes with 30-40 cm forecast today. Temperatures are set to drop later today and more snow is on the way tomorrow down to 700m. All we need now is some sun!

Superb conditions in Chatel this week

Conditions are really great in Chatel this week. After last weeks fresh snow and a few days running the snow cannons the pistes are in excellent shape although with a few hard patches. The sun is shining as well and temperatures are staying low so the good conditions are set to continue. We've even been finding a bit of powder left 4 days after the last snowfall!

Winter is finally here

After 2 days of on and off snow winter looks like it's finally arrived. There's 30-40 cm of fresh snow and the tempereature has dropped to well below zero. The pistes were in excellent condition yesterday with most of Linga and Pre la Joux open and great skiing with a layer of fresh snow over hard pack. Now the temperature has dropped the snow cannons have been working over time too so conditions should now stay good for a long time. The sun is also shining today!

Excellent snow and no crowds!

Excellent conditions in Chatel again today. The New Year crowds have left and the fresh snow from earlier in the week is keeping the pistes in great condition. This morning was magnificent with clear skies and very warm in the sun, but more snow is forecast tonight and tomorrow and sure enoughthe cloud is coming up tonight. All in all it looks superb for January!

New year snow!

After a day of rain yesterday the temperature has finally dropped over night and we had 40cm of snow by this morning. It's still coming down today and there is more forecast over the next few days. Skiing conditions are now great, the link to Avoriaz is open and more pistes in Chatel are due to open over the next few days in Linga and Pre la Joux which should ease some of the crowds.

By next week conditions should be excellent and a large part of the ski area should be open at last.
