Chamonix Summertime Weather Report
The summer has arrived in Chamonix and therefore the snow has melted away just leaving the high altitude snow capped peaks. It is of course still possible to go ski touring and mountaineering, but if you fancy some action in the valley then there is still plenty on offer throughout the summer months ranging from mountain biking to white water rafting. There might be the occasional freak snow fall but generally temperatures range in the mid 20s with the sky a brilliant blue and plenty of sunshine to soak up.

Great conditions and big blue skies
After the recent fall of snow, conditions across the resort are fantastic. All the pistes are in great shape and the off piste and valley blanche are fantastic. clear blue sunny skies and cold temperatures are forecast for the rest of the week.

The Snow we have all been waiting for has arrived!
It's been a tough start to the season in terms of snow and skiing conditions, but things have now changed with the recent dump of snow over the last 48 hours. The Chamonix lift companies are now reporting that the resort will be operating at full strength as from tomorrow (2/1/07) with fresh snow and groomed pistes offering the very best skiing so far this winter. Come and experience the new snow now.

The snow arrives with the New Year
As has been well reported the snow in France this Christmas has been rather thin on the ground recently, and though we have been skiing most days, there has been a limited number of runs open.
But as 2006 turned to 2007 the sky clouded over and the snow began to fall. There has been about 40-50 cm of new snow at 1800m, about the height of the lower lifts here in Chamonix. Yesterday we even managed a few turns in some slightly heavy powder off piste, so happy days!
Currently there are still a limited number of lifts open today the 2nd Jan due to high winds. Most of the rest of the lifts should open in the next day or so as the pisteurs check the security of the slopes.
And with more snow forecast for the rest of the week things are looking really good for January skiing. So if you have a few days free in January get straight over to Chamonix and enjoy some empty pistes over the next few weeks.
