Delightful, traditional Swiss Chalet in Ski and Thermal Spa Resort of Ovronnaz

Our lovely chalet is situated in this fantastic Ski and Thermal resort, perched high in the Valais. It is in a fabulous position with stunning uninterrupted mountain views looking out across the Rhone valley to it?s better known neighbour, Verbier. The village of Ovronnaz is a real Swiss mountain village of beautiful chalets where local people still retain their traditional way of life - but it is also a modern ski and thermal spa resort.

The chalet?s interior is warm and inviting. Upstairs - a lovely open fire in the lounge area, a spacious dining area, kitchen, guest toilet and sun lounge - surrounded by a south and east facing terrace, perfect for lounging or eating outside. Downstairs there are 3 bedrooms - double, twin and single - a luxurious bathroom with bath and shower and a utility room with clothes washer/dryer. The sun lounge can be used as an additional bedroom - it has a fold-down settee.

Skiing Information. The resort of Ovronnaz is renowned for its wonderful micro-climate, sparkling sunny days and an abundance of snow. Ski uplift rises from 1350 metres to 2,500 metres. The runs are 30% beginner, 50% intermediate and 20% expert, with the longest run over 1000 metres in length. For skiing the uplift system opens in late November and continues until after Easter. For cross country skiers there are 3 ?loops? totalling 25 kms, and there are also 20 kms of marked footpaths and an 11 kms snow shoeing trail. Better still, you can include entry to the Thermal Centre in your lift pass. Ovronnaz has 2 ski schools both located in the village centre offering skiing and snowboarding lessons. The beginners' slope is right in the centre of the village with its own tow. This is very conveniently located for the local bars and restaurants so non-skiing adults can watch progress but escape for a vin chaud as well. The higher slopes are reached by chair lift, accessible to non-skiers and skiers alike.

Thermal and Spa centre. Ovronnaz is unique. When you buy your lift pass, you can chose to include entry to the thermal spa and pools ? and at the end of a hard day on the pistes, lie back in one of the 3 naturally heated pools, indoor and out, enjoying crystal clear views of the mountains all around. Unlike most ?spa? resorts, Ovronnaz attracts a young and family clientele. Kids will adore the outdoor pools ? naturally heated to 34-36°. As well as the Jacuzzi?s, whirlpools and water jets in the 3 main pools, the centre also offers a fantastic range of health and beauty therapies ? early booking advisable. The thermal centre is open all year round which means the village is always inviting and hospitable, no matter what month you visit. (And, no ? the water isn?t smelly and you don?t drink it!!)

Summer. In summer, the mountain sporting possibilities are boundless.Local activities include mountain biking, mountaineering, paragliding, swimming, tennis, walking and wine tasting - Ovronnaz perches above Switzerland's biggest wine-growing area. Children will love the thrill of real mountain adventure playgrounds with ?flying fox? rides and mini ?via ferrata?s? which are found in the surrounding resorts. Wine-lovers will enjoy being right in the centre of the Swiss wine-growing region with it?s many opportunities for a ?dégustation de vins ?! Mountain biking enthusiasts will find more than 50 kms of trails set in stunning scenery. Paragliders will be in their element ? getting to the tops of mountains is much easier with a chair-lift. This facility is open in summer from June to end October allowing easy access to the high mountainsides.

Facilities

The chalet has a cd/radio, satellite/cable TV. In summer there is a BBQ on the south-facing terrace.

Location

Our chalet is in a wonderful position, between alpine meadows and mountain. The ski slopes can be reached by a navette bus which stops just 2 minutes walk from the chalet, or by car. The Thermal Spa centre and village can be reached by walking, by bus or by car.

Access ? Ovronnaz can be reached easily from Geneva, Basle or Zurich airports. We recommend you have a car in resort. The chalet has a garage.
